Project 3 : Visual Analysis

Visual Analysis : 

Understanding design that focuses on the visual elements and principles
  • description and explanation of visual structure for its own sake
  • can also recognize the choices that designer made in creating the design, as well as to better understand how the formal properties of a design communicate ideas, content, or meaning.
Critical part of visual literacy (which is a skill that helps people to read and critically interpret artwork in museum, social media, or any other platforms)
Practicing Visual Analysis sharpens critical judgment skills and helps people seek out answers instead of passively receiving information.
How does it work
  • Observation
    • Closely looking and identify visual elements of a design, trying to describe them carefully and accurately in your own words
    • Looking, thinking, and finding good language
  • Analysis
    • Requires to think about the observations and combine them together to create a whole, and what effect that whole has on the viewer
  • Interpretation
    • Observations, description and analysis of the work are fused with facts about the work.
    • "What is the meaning and purpose of the design?"
    • Can try and link/compare with more artwork to reinforce points.
Instruction
Practical
For this Design principles final project we need to choose 1 design from internet and we must analysis the design and create our design that inspired from that design.

First i watch the lecture for the final project after that i begin searching the design at pinterest, and instagram, i went through a lot of artist in pinterest and instagram, i always interest on photo manipulation design especially dreamy and mystical theme.

The Photo Manipulation Design that i choose :

Visual Analysis :

Observation : 
The design work have harmony from the all of object really match to the design like castle, cloud, earth planet, air ballon ,and old airplane all of that make the design feel like mystical type of design, in visual the main color is pink, blue, and brown overall the design using soft color that really bring a mystical vibe in it. The earth planet really represent that the castle is at the moon, the castle I like he choose old version because it really make dreamy and mystical theme, for the cloud really make the castle feel like disney castle theme.

Analysis : 
This design theres symmetrical balance for the castle that he use, I notice that the air ballon use a good proportion (3 at left and 3 at right), I see that the back of the castle theres is repetition of the castle to make the design more interesting and adding some dept to the design and I see theres cloud repetition at the castle it really make the viewer feel it is mystical castle. I notice that in the design he use lightning from the left and I see the shadow from the object really match with the lightning. For the earth planet I really like it he place it for the background it makes the design more interesting and really match with the tittle of the design which is “Moon City”, for the cloud under the castle I think it not really match with the tittle moon city but I still like it because we know it is moon city from the earth planet behind it and overall all of the object in this design theres unity.

Interpretation :
The design is posted on November 18, 2020 by @beeple_crap and the design called “Moon City”, This castle and cloud inspired from old castle called “Hohenzollern Castle” Germany, for the color he use is rubian royal color combination in the design to make it dreamy and mystical vibes.

So here i try to make photo manipulation design and i take the reference from what i choose to be my visual analysis, i tried to make it mystical theme and i use castle too for my design.

Here i add some repetition of castle and the background to my design to add some depth after that i use filter to make my design better.

Here i make the design with mystical theme and like my reference here but I added to the design like a portal effect and sea creature coming out of it to make it more mystical theme and i make the design by using a lot of photo from internet that I got, for the land I didn’t use the cloud because I want to make it different from my reference and I try to make my own design, i use repetition of the castle for my background to make it better.

Feedback
Is ok if we dont know why we choose the design and if you think its good and you want to choose it that is a reasson too.
Reflection
For this project i learn that choose design to anylize the design its not that simple as i thought i really struggle at first to decide what should i choose for reference but i really enjoy all the proses, i find that to make design that inspired from other design its complicated because we shoud know what the designer want to emphasis and what the massasge that the designer want to deliver.

We start by learning how to use Gsap website to help us with the animation of the website, Then we try to animate our website logo by using script that we copy from Gsap.
